WAGE: $20-$30/hourly (commensurate with experience)

JOB DUTIES
* Performs various types of construction material testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt under the direction of the lab supervisor
* Assist with field tests as required
* Prepares, receives and logs samples
* Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment
* Records and reports data from all analyses and tests in the prescribed time and form and maintains statistical records in accordance with laboratory procedures
* Carries out routine tasks accurately and follows strict methodologies to complete analyses
* Records and interprets results to present to senior colleagues
* Follows and ensures strict safety procedures and safety checks
* Makes detailed observations; analyzes data, and interprets results
* Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies
* Performs limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments
* Logs in all samples from the field or special requests for routine, non-routine and other tests
* Responsible for cleaning the lab, sample disposal, monthly inventory checks, safety duties etc.
* Fieldwork, shiftwork, overtime and travel may be required in all seasons
Job Requirements
• Geological Technical Diploma or Civil Technician Diploma or related University discipline
• CCIL Certification Type “C” aggregates or Type “QL” and “QF” concrete an asset
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working in a similar CCIL-certified testing lab.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work with a team
• High level of integrity and pride in quality work
• The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
