Folkestone Rugby Football Club (FRFC) is an inclusive, community, amateur sports club, with a refurbished clubhouse and kitchen facilities, just off the M20 near Folkestone.
During the regular season, the club is a hive of activity running a full rugby program for senior men’s and ladies’ sides as well as a thriving minis and junior’s section. With a combined adult/junior membership of over three hundred, the club’s staff greet hundreds of players and supporters with a warm welcome and quality bar and catering service. In addition to match days, the club caters for private functions and local events.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Bar and Catering Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse and premises and to drive commercial opportunities aiming towards ensuring the club's continued success.
The right person should be able to work in a busy environment and have flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Job Summary:
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and running of the clubhouse bar and catering activities during match days and other functions.
* Provide effective hands-on management to the bar and catering team.
* Ensure effective stock control/management and undertake regular stock takes.
* Organise, co-ordinate and be responsible for all venue bookings and club calendar management.
* Work with the Management team to identify and develop value-added products, new revenue streams, product promotions, and services to enhance the club's long-term profitability.
* Ensure compliance with legal requirements for the sale of alcohol and food hygiene standards.
* Recruit, manage, supervise, and motivate casual bar & catering staff, improving service standards and training personnel as required.
* Work to an agreed budget across the bar and catering areas with appropriate controls in place to ensure expenditure and profit is in line with forecasted margins.
* Reconcile weekly cash and PDQ monies, bank and prepare floats in accordance with the financial procedures laid down by the Treasurer and provide weekly reporting on financial matters.
* Ensure all relevant health and safety rules and regulations are complied with.
To be able to conduct the Club Manager role well, you will:
* Have experience in a role in a Pub, Bar or Catering facility with food production.
* Possess excellent communication and people skills with a confident and outgoing personality and an ability to interact with people at all levels.
* Be numerate with good IT skills.
* Show flexibility in terms of day-to-day duties and responsibilities; working evenings and weekends is a prerequisite.
* Have a good eye for detail along with planning and organisation skills.
* Have experience in using Bar POS systems and PDQ machines.
* Able to lead and train the staff with a positive “can do” attitude.
* Ability to multitask and work in a busy environment.
* Preferably hold an existing DPS licence; if not, a training course will be organised.
* Ideally hold a food hygiene certificate or similar qualification (training can be provided).
* Have a valid driving licence and their own means of transport.
* Undertake a DBS check and take First Aid at Work training (training can be provided).
* Promotional and marketing skills preferred.
* Be eligible to work full-time in the UK.
