Job Overview

The Refinery produces circa 28k tonnes and £117M worth of chocolate each year and supplies directly to 6 pladis sites. It is of key strategic importance to the business, and any interruption to supply can cause exponential consequences. The role is key to business continuity of chocolate supply and to supporting the operational and technical team within the Refinery. The Shift Engineer will be a dynamic, motivated and ambitious individual with a background in delivering change, driving performance, improvement, and developing new and improved maintenance strategies.
Engineering Technicians provide engineering resource in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements, and modifications or upgrades to plant and services to maximise plant performance and maintain equipment to the required standard.
You will improve plant availability, life cycle costs, and efficiency and carry out all engineering work to high Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Hygiene standards. You will also support the engineering function in moving to World Class standard in maintenance standards in line with AMIS audits and benchmarking.
You will provide full Technical Engineering support to the production function under the leadership of the Area Engineering Managers and by working as part of a multi-functional team. You will also understand and contribute to achieving the goals of the Factory by efficiently carrying out any assigned Engineering task.
Key Responsibilities
* To provide full Technical engineering support to production under the leadership of the Refinery team manager and Engineering Manager.
* Specialist knowledge of chocolate manufacturing equipment and associated bespoke control systems.
* Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping.
* Decide on the best course of action for major breakdowns in conjunction with team managers and AEMs.
* Plan own time to achieve priority actions.
* Implementation of continuous improvement programs using Speedy Kaizen / MBR etc.
* Deliver a consistent and improving plant reliability through the effective management and monitoring of downtime, PPM conformance, engineering planning, use of SAP PM, and elements of the engineering budget.
* Liaise with 3rd party contractors when required, ensure the Permit To Work (PTW) system is controlled in an effective and safe manner.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
* You will be a time-served engineer.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Thorough understanding of problem-solving techniques.
* Electrical & Mechanical comprehension skills.
* SAP PM experience.
* Self-motivated and self-managed individual.
* Knowledge of chocolate manufacturing processes & equipment.
* Knowledge of batch processing system & Siemens PCS7 control equipment.
* PLC experience preferred.
* Advanced PC Skills.
* Technical (Base Food Hygiene Cert).
Qualifications
Formal engineering qualification - NHC/City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an electrical/mechanical discipline.
