Brief Description
This role will lead the North & East route’s approach to resourcing including rostering of over 700 people within the operations function. You will lead on route and local level council discussions regarding rosters and local agreements and will take a strategic lead in ensuring rostering is as efficient as possible and in line with all agreements, national and local.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities:
* Strategic leadership of the Resource team including development and delivery of the Resource Team people plan
* Lead in conjunction with local HR teams the Operations Directorate's people plan
* Taking the lead in succession planning activities for the Ops Director team
* Good quality rosters across the route – being cost-effective
* Leading on LLC and Route Council for roster arrangements and recruitment activity
* Develop the training programme for Roster Clerks and continuous development
* Attending MBR’s with Ops teams / Strategic ownership on resource reporting on behalf of the Ops Director (QBR)
* Regular performance audits – reducing waste
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
* Previous successful experience of leading, managing and developing people
* Previous experience with roster negotiations and Union engagement
* Previous experience of strategic decision-making skills
* Previous successful experience of demonstrating organization and planning skills
* Demonstrable ability to communicate and articulate clearly and concisely with people at all levels within an organization
* Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills with senior stakeholders
* Expert knowledge of NR rostering principles
* Detailed understanding of conditions of service, including pay arrangements, applicable to rostering
* Knowledge of the UK railway industry
* Knowledge of people management policies and procedures
* Educated to degree level
* Member of project association
* Commercial and financial awareness
* Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures
* Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry
