Job summary
We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist to join our Scarborough & Ryedale Wellbeing in Mind Team. The Wellbeing in Mind Team are MHSTs who work directly into education, in line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people within education settings. The Clinical Specialist will provide clinical leadership to the team.
Main duties of the job
Our Wellbeing in Mind team has 3 core functions:
1. Support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing, including supporting sites to develop and implement mental health and wellbeing policies, development of resources, supporting campaigns, and delivering training, assemblies, and PHSE curriculum.
2. Provide timely advice and consultation to education staff to support teaching staff in building their skills and confidence in supporting the wellbeing needs of their students/pupils.
3. Undertake direct assessments and interventions for young people within education, offering a low intensity service model, predominantly using cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Each function accounts for a third of the team's workload. The Clinical Specialist must demonstrate the ability to manage their time, prioritising and managing competing demands. Managing relationships and working collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders is vital to this post holder, who will act as a resource to provide specialist mental health advice, training, guidance, and consultation to staff in educational settings.
About us
The post holder will form part of a locality-wide leadership team along with Team Managers and Clinical Leads. With support from the existing leadership team, the post holder will take a lead role in the development of clinical services.

£46,148 to £52,809 a year pro rata, per annum

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registration with relevant professional body (NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England)
2. For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent
3. Trained in providing clinical supervision
4. For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice
5. All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years
6. Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level, such as working as a band 6 (or above) in a relevant clinical area with significant experience
Knowledge
Essential
1. Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
2. Experience of application of relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act) in practice
Experience
Essential
1. Substantial clinical experience of working in a relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families, and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings
2. Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others, and safeguarding)
3. Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
4. Involvement in quality improvement activities
