Special Education Teacher
Teaching Personnel are working with a School in Cardiff which are looking for a Special Education Teacher to start working after half term on a fulltime basis. The role will require someone to be adaptable, understanding and creative in their approach to tailor their education needs to the needs of the children.
This school educates young learners from 3 – 19 years of age. Each age group has a wide range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). We are therefore looking for a Teacher which has the capability to apply the curriculum with an adaptable approach, but also with a passion for working with a large spectrum of additional needs. Class sizes vary depending on the needs of the children, however this can be up to 11 children per class. Each class does work with at least 2 Teaching Assistants, with some children requiring 3:1 and 2:1 assistance.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A knowledge or background in working with Additional Needs
- QTS in either Primary or Secondary Education
- A confidence with Planning, Preparing and Assessment
- The ability to direct a room of other staff members e.g. 2 or 3 Teaching Assistants in a class
- An understanding of how to apply an Individual Education Plan
Start date: 3rd March 2025
Hours: 8:30 – 3:30 (With additional hours allocated for PPA and other responsibilities)
Pay: A minimum of £166.32 per day as per the Welsh National Framework
Location: Cardiff
Contract: Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent
