Job Overview:
Mech Electrics are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Site Manager to join a leading building services provider. You will be responsible for overseeing the electrical installations and systems for iconic residential developments in the Salford and Trafford areas of Greater Manchester. The projects are set to commence in February 2025 and are part of high-profile residential schemes aimed at transforming these key urban locations.
As the Electrical Site Manager, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that electrical works are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be managing a team of electricians and subcontractors, liaising with other trades, and working closely with project managers, designers, and clients. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major project that will shape the future of residential living in one of Greater Manchester’s most dynamic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management & Leadership:
Oversee and manage the electrical installation and commissioning activities across multiple residential developments.
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of electricians, subcontractors, and site operatives, ensuring that they work safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Ensure that all electrical works are carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Supervise and monitor the performance of subcontractors, ensuring they meet project timelines, quality expectations, and safety protocols.
Coordinate with the Site Manager and other department heads to ensure smooth workflow and avoid delays.
Project Coordination & Compliance:
Ensure that all electrical works are carried out in line with the project schedule, ensuring that electrical installations are completed on time and within budget.
Assist in the preparation of risk assessments and method statements, reviewing them to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Manage material procurement, ensuring that electrical materials and equipment are ordered, delivered, and available on site when required.
Conduct regular inspections of electrical installations, reviewing quality control processes, and resolving any non-conformance issues promptly.
Liaise with clients, architects, and consultants to provide updates on progress, resolve issues, and maintain strong working relationships.
Health, Safety & Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s Health and Safety procedures, local authority regulations, and industry standards.
Promote a culture of safety across the site, ensuring that all workers and visitors comply with safety protocols and wear the appropriate PPE.
Conduct regular site audits and inspections to monitor health, safety, and quality standards.
Ensure the electrical work is carried out to the highest quality and in line with project specifications, delivering a high standard of finish.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of electrical installations, changes, and any issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on site progress, health and safety, manpower, materials, and any issues that may impact project timelines or budgets.
Track and record any variation orders, issues, or changes that may impact the cost or scope of the electrical works, ensuring that these are documented for future reference.
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:
Proactively address and resolve any technical or operational issues that arise on-site in relation to electrical works.
Work with other site management personnel to identify and resolve any potential delays or problems, ensuring project timelines are met.
Work closely with the project manager to manage any electrical project changes and coordinate with other trades to ensure smooth project delivery.
Key Skills and Experience:
Previous Experience: Ideally minimum of 5 years in an electrical site management or supervisory role, with demonstrable experience managing electrical installations in large-scale residential or commercial building services projects.
Technical Qualifications: Relevant electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds 2365 (or equivalent), 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations.
Management Experience: Strong experience managing electrical teams, subcontractors, and site operations, including scheduling, resource management, and performance monitoring.
Health & Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safe working practices on-site.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively and manage on-site challenges efficiently.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Quality Focus: High attention to detail, with a strong focus on ensuring electrical works are completed to the highest standards and specifications.
SMSTS or SSSTS Certification: Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certification
Previous experience managing electrical installations for high-profile, iconic residential or mixed-use developments would be a distinct advantage.
