Operations Manager – Dash Express APC Saltash
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Route planning
• Driver attendance and shift management
• Cost control
• Reporting
• Ensuring driver routing is followed to achieve ETA targets
• Driver liaison throughout the day and managing resource to achieve perfect service
• Allocating and managing customer collections to ensure perfect service
• Driver education and training
• Ensuring vehicle defect reporting and daily vehicle checks are completed
• Monitoring and controlling drivers
• Recruitment & discipline
o Drop performance
o Attendance
o Monitoring/controlling driver start and finish times
o Uniform & vehicle checks
• Staff appraisals and performance management
• Continuous monitoring of sub-contractor rates and routes to ensure best value
• Ensure adherence to APC policies and procedures
• To ensure full compliance with all company health and safety procedures
• To effectively co-ordinate and control rotas, absence, and ever-changing delivery/collection volumes
• To ensure expected service levels are met
General Duties
• Customer service
• Health and safety
• Accident reporting
• Driver dispatch reporting
• Driver discrepancies
• Action phone calls and emails from customers chasing deliveries
• Ensure freight is scanned after drivers have left every day
• Damage processing, to include returns and disposing of items
• Ensure carded delivery procedure is adhered to
Personal Specification
Essential
• Demonstrable leadership experience with an ability to implement operational objectives
• Effective communication, presentation and negotiating skills
• A good knowledge of the local area
• Excellent customer service skills
• A pragmatic approach to problem solving and people management
• A flexible approach to working hours
• A full driving licence held for at least 2 years
• Exceptional management and communication skills with an ability to delegate whilst retaining control
• Experience in meeting corporate customer requirements and working with Key Performance Indicators
Further Information
Reporting to: Depot General Manager
Based: Saltash (PL12 6LX)
Hours of Work: Monday- Friday (40 hours) Saturday availability.
Salary: £32,500 – 37,500
Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year (including Bank Holidays). Holiday benefit – For every continuous year you’re with us, you’ll receive an extra day of holiday, up to a maximum of five.
