Network Engineer vacancy in Stoke on Trent (250DM)
The Role
Our client, an IT services provider working within Defence and Government, is looking for a highly capable Network Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and cloud technologies, with a passion for implementing innovative solutions to support our organisation's growth and technological advancements.
Note: Candidates require a minimum of SC with candidates being eligible for DV.
Role Responsibilities
1. Design and deploy scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
2. Collaborate with architects, system engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate network solutions with existing and new systems.
3. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimise speed, reliability, and security.
4. Conduct regular network maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and configuration changes, to ensure optimal network health.
5. Implement and enforce network security policies, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls, to protect against unauthorised access and threats.
6. Ensure network solutions comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and others.
Education and Experience Requirements
As the Network Engineer you will have:
1. Proven experience as a network engineer or similar role, with a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and cloud technologies.
2. In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing/switching.
3. Familiarity with security principles, practices, and tools for securing IT infrastructure, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint security solutions.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause analysis.
5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
