My client is an established Children's Home Provider and currently supports many children and young people through their residential homes across the country. They are now looking to expand their teams in several of their facilities and will be recruiting for Senior Residential Support Workers in the following areas/locations:
* Carlisle
* Penrith
* Workington
* Wigton
* Maryport
* Appleby
* Stockton-on-Tees
* Consett
* Hexham
Under the leadership of the Assistant Manager, ensure that the care objectives, as defined by the Registered Manager, are delivered by you and the RSWs that report into you and your SRSW peer group. You will be responsible for:
1. Ensuring that the care objectives are effectively deployed by the team on shift.
2. Ensuring that the paperwork for the children is completed.
3. Ensuring that the home is operated to outstanding quality levels.
4. Ensuring that the team adheres to the risk assessment and are aware of any risk mitigation and actions and boundaries around the care planning of the child in placement.
5. Formal supervision and mentoring of the RSWs.
6. Submission of financial spends at the end of each shift.
7. Shift handovers and debriefs of more junior team members.
The Senior Residential Support Worker will effectively and efficiently deliver the main responsibilities and key result areas encompassed within a Senior Residential Support Worker role. To meet the below requirements within a children’s home providing day-to-day care, direction and support to children who may display challenging and disruptive behaviours, emotional and social difficulties.
The Senior Residential Support Worker will actively encourage each child to engage with the ethos of the company by putting in mechanisms and plans that support the use of the outdoors. Although we wish to ensure that our children feel at home with us, as an organisation we do not support prolonged periods of time in the house and with your skills and experience, you will already be able to demonstrate how to engage children in other activities that inspire and motivate them.
The Senior Residential Support Worker will be carrying out a number of duties, some of which have been listed below:
1. Assist the management of the home in developing the skills and potential of residential support workers through effective supervision and support.
2. Take responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts.
3. Work within and ensure effective delivery of the policies and procedures in the home, and the organisation.
4. Monitor and maintain administrative requirements, ensuring that the outcomes of our children meet the standards set out in children’s legislation, and the homes working practices.
5. Ensure ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day-to-day practice.
6. Oversee, supervise and develop the skills of employees in their daily working practice.
7. Promote and actively encourage the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
8. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team both within the home and with external agencies.
9. Relate to and engage young people who display challenging behaviour.
10. Assist young people to identify unsafe, dangerous, harmful and abusive situations, individuals and groups.
11. At all times ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the children and young people.
12. Ensure employees are aware of and deliver the support required to ensure the life chance opportunities of children and young people are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
13. Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities.
14. Ensure a variety of intervention strategies are utilised in relation to behaviour management.
15. Where required, deputise in the absence of the management of the home.
16. Where required, attend reviews and or meetings.
17. Ensure an open culture is created so that children and young people feel they can complain and that they are listened to.
18. Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practices, homes procedures, company policies and children’s regulations.
19. At all times promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practice.
20. Oversee, write and edit all reports when submitted for meetings and reviews.
21. Undertake all relevant training as and when required.
22. You must co-operate with the Company in complying with the Health and Safety requirements and are therefore expected to follow Company policies, to acquaint yourself with the Fire, Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work and report any unsafe practices and conditions.

Base salary of £32,914 - £35,104 plus £3,900 annual sleep-in allowance.
Condensed shifts: 2 days on, 4 days off on a rolling rota (yes, this means work-life balance is real here!).
5.6 weeks annual leave.
Additional leave at 2- and 5-years’ service.
A thorough induction and six-month welcome program.
Shift Patterns:
Our shift structure includes two days on, followed by four days off, operating on a rolling rota. Over a month, this averages 10–11 shifts.
Typical Shifts:
* Day 1: 9 am start, working until 11 pm, then sleep until 8 am.
* Day 2: 8 am start, working until 11 pm, followed by sleep until 8 am. The shift concludes after handover from 9 am–10 am.
(Please note that start times may vary depending on the service, which will be clarified during the interview.)
You can also apply if you are interested in working on a temporary basis to begin with. This will offer an hourly pay rate of £15.88 per hour PAYE or £19.12 per hour Umbrella, and if the role becomes permanent then the above salary stated will apply.
Salaries are reviewed and incremented on a pay scale basis which can be discussed during the interview stage.
A DBS check carried out in the last 12 months is essential to be considered for this role.
Currently, our client does not offer sponsorship for employment and candidates who do hold a work visa will need to have at least 1 year remaining with no restrictions.
