The governors of this thriving mixed 11-16 Catholic High School are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Computing to join an ambitious and highly supportive team.
Corpus Christi Catholic High School in Fulwood has become a school of choice for parents, following the publication of an exceptionally positive Ofsted report in February 2024. A glowing Section 48 report in 2022 offered praise to the improvements made and giving an overall judgement of 'outstanding'. Over the last few years, the school has been inundated with admissions requests from parents wanting their children to benefit from the high expectations and strong Catholic ethos that were commended by inspectors. On the back of record GCSE examination results in 2024, which resulted in our Progress 8 figure of +0.67 being in the top 5% of all secondary schools in England, the school is now massively oversubscribed.
The Ofsted report showed that inspectors were particularly impressed by the school’s pupils. Their good manners, good behaviour, respect for each other and keenness to learn were all praised in the report. Inspectors commented that staff and governors ‘...have rapidly improved the school into a place where pupils thrive’. They also stated that the school ‘sets exceptionally high expectations of pupils’ conduct and achievement. Classrooms are an oasis of calm and purposeful learning. Pupils are highly motivated and engage tremendously well during lessons. As such, they are achieving better than they have before.’
Leaders at the school believe that improvements in the quality of teaching have had a strong impact on attendance. ‘Attendance has improved’ noted inspectors, ’because pupils enjoy coming to school’. As a result, the school has been consistently recognised as being within the top 1% of schools in the country for attendance.
Facilities at Corpus Christi have also undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years. As well as adding new science laboratories, a new state of the art food and nutrition room and a new chapel to a building that was already equipped with outstanding facilities, pupils have recently been provided with a huge garden area to the rear of the school. Inspired by the work of Charles Jencks, ‘the garden’ includes paths, seating, borders and an area for outdoor chess.
Governors and staff were delighted with the recognition that they received from Ofsted and the Diocese, but they are ambitious for the next phase of the school’s development and determined to do all that is needed to ensure that every pupil at Corpus Christi experiences a quality of education that is exceptional.
