Our systems manage all aspects of timetable planning, operations, employee schedules, complex pay rules, and short-term disruptions; and automates many frequently performed tasks, allowing users to complete their work more efficiently and to a higher quality standard. The Business Analyst elicits and captures requirements to company standards and guidelines. Business analysts need to gain good knowledge about the way Signature Rail products are used, and the customer’s business processes. They translate problems from the business domain into software solutions working with the software team.
Key responsibilities:
* Requirements analysis.
* Requirements / Workpackage management.
* Together with Lead Developers assist Project Manager’s with planning, identifying tasks and dependencies.
* Provide estimates for analysis tasks.
* Business Process Modelling.
* Gap analysis.
* Software design.
* Production of specification documentation.
* Maintaining user documentation.
* Running workshops with customers and internal staff (Face to Face / Remote).
* Production support.
* Mentor all staff both new and existing.
* Work un-supervised.
In addition, expected to:
* Work closely with the software team to provide “Best Solution”.
* Support testing team.
* Willingness to undertake occasional international travel.
* Follow and contribute to the Signature Rail software development procedures.
* Undertaking any other responsibilities such as the Company may reasonably require.
* Work closely with the Project Management department.
Person specification (skills and experience required):
* Experience of working in a structured software development environment.
* In depth software design experience and knowledge.
* Ability to understand and document complex software applications and data models.
* Delivery focused, whilst having the ability to work under pressure on multiple deliverables with differing timeframes and solutions.
* Motivated self-starter.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Understanding of SDLC’s (Waterfall and Agile).
* More than 2 years’ experience in a software development environment.
