Description
We are seeking a Logistics & Customer Relations Manager to oversee transport operations and customer service at our Perth site. This role is key in ensuring smooth scheduling, coordinating transport logistics for our fleet of 8 vehicles, and maintaining strong customer relationships. You will work closely with transport managers, external clients, and internal teams to optimise routes, manage schedules, and support new contract onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
Transport & Logistics Management
* Plan, coordinate, and manage transport schedules to ensure timely collection and delivery of waste materials.
* Monitor vehicle availability and ensure fleet efficiency to minimise delays and optimise costs.
* Liaise with drivers and transport teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
* Ensure compliance with transport regulations, including health & safety standards and environmental guidelines.
* Handle unexpected logistical challenges, such as delays, breakdowns, or route changes, to minimise service disruptions.
Customer Relationship Management
* Act as the primary point of contact for external customers, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.
* Address customer inquiries, resolve service issues, and manage complaints in a professional and timely manner.
* Maintain regular communication with key clients to understand their needs and identify opportunities for service improvements.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to enhance customer experience and ensure efficient service delivery.
Client Onboarding & Contract Support
* Assist in setting up and managing new customer contracts, ensuring a smooth transition into service operations.
* Ensure accurate documentation and communication of contract details to relevant teams.
* Provide ongoing support to new clients to ensure their waste management needs are met efficiently.
Fleet Coordination
* Work closely with the Transport Manager to optimise vehicle routes, ensuring efficiency and timely collections/deliveries.
* Monitor fleet performance and ensure vehicle utilisation aligns with business demands.
* Assist in managing driver schedules and ensuring compliance with working hours regulations.
Operational Planning
* Oversee daily logistics and scheduling to maintain service efficiency while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Conduct regular operational reviews to identify areas for improvement.
* Work proactively to prevent disruptions and ensure smooth workflow between departments.
Service Improvement
* Continuously analyse transport and logistics operations to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
* Implement process improvements to enhance service levels and operational effectiveness.
* Collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative solutions for optimising routes, customer experience, and overall transport efficiency.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or fleet management, ideally within the waste management or environmental services industry.
* In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, scheduling, and fleet coordination.
* Excellent customer service and relationship management skills, with a track record of handling client inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
* Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions to improve operations.
* Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with customers, drivers, and internal teams.
* Experience in managing contracts and onboarding new clients is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring smooth collaboration across departments.
* Knowledge of health & safety standards and environmental regulations in transport and waste management is beneficial.
