Join our innovative System Modelling team in Glasgow and be at the forefront of transforming Scotland’s Railway. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to deliver timing analysis and develop the first Scotland-wide whole system performance model.
As an analyst, you'll collaborate with various teams across Network Rail, as well as passenger and freight customers. You'll harness industry data, cutting-edge software, and your communication skills to drive impactful changes in railway infrastructure and train services.
Your role involves modelling timetable changes, understanding the conditions for positive industry outcomes, reviewing timetable components, and providing strategic advice to decision-makers to improve network performance. Collaboration is essential, working closely with government, customers, and stakeholders to achieve balanced outcomes. About the role (External)
Key duties include:
* Designing and delivering intricate timetables that meet industry standards, providing insights on capacity opportunities or limitations impacting future services.
* Developing and evaluating service pattern options, weighing benefits and risks, and presenting clear timetable concepts to stakeholders, including performance modelling and analysis.
* Shaping the technical scope of advanced timetable analysis projects to align with industry needs.
* Nurturing team skills through training, mentoring, and coaching, fostering growth and sharing best practices.
* Collaborating with customers and stakeholders by fostering accountability, maintaining clear communication, and tailoring interactions.
* Innovating solutions to complex timetable and capacity challenges, supporting infrastructure programs and strategic planning.
* Providing expert guidance within industry timetable working groups to improve planning rules and performance.
* Encouraging continuous improvement by identifying and implementing new tools and processes.
* Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and collaboration, including preparing reports, delivering presentations, and briefings.
Qualifications and experience:
* Experience with timetable analysis using TPS / ATTune / RailSys or similar tools.
* Experience creating timetable outputs for modelling tools like RailSys / Trenno.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring technical timetable planning.
* Proven ability to deliver to deadlines and standards.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills.
* Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience with timetable planning processes such as event steering groups, strategic planning, or passenger operator contracts.
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
* Understanding of railway industry processes including the Network Code.
* Experience working in virtual or matrix teams.
