This clinical coding post sits within the administration team andis based at Collingwood site, however, staff may be requested to work at othersites on occasions.
To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information intopatients electronic healthcare records on the practice's clinical system,adhering to the practice policy
In addition, the postholder will support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrativesupport as required, in line with the needs of the organisation. The post holder will also support the managementteam in promoting ED&I, SHEF, Quality & CI, Confidentiality,Collaborative Working, Service Delivery, Learning and Development and carry outother duties as directed by the management team.
Main duties of the job
The postholder must be able to accurately translate information documented in patient medical records or hospital correspondence into coded data and enter onto clinical system.

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. Theremay be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will bedependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
a.Accuratelyread and extract clinical information, subsequently coding this data on theclinical system into the patient record
b.Identifyingrelevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, codingappropriately and completing any detailed action.
c.Inputtingand extracting data as required to support practice reports.
d.Photocopyingdocumentation as required.
e.Actioningall incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner
f.Scanningpatient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records
g.Inputtingdata into patients healthcare records as necessary
h.Answeringincoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callersrequest appropriately
i.Carryingout system searches as requested.
j.Maintaininga clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
k.Supportingall clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
l.Havea good awareness of QoF and the importance of accurate information.
m.Reviewand summarise the medical records of patients newly registered with thepractice.
