SailGP is the world’s most exciting racing on-water. The annual, global championship – established in 2018 and now in its fifth season – features national teams battling in short, intense races at iconic stadium-style venues across the globe. The high-tech, high-speed action features the sailing's best athletes racing in identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans, flying at speeds approaching 100 km/h who compete for the sport's top prize money, with US$12.8 million at stake over the season. Role summary SailGP is seeking a full-time Finance Assistant who will be based in Southampton to support the Finance department in payables, receivables, payroll, monthly reporting and ad hoc requests to implement strong internal controls and support the finance function at SailGP Technologies. SailGP Technologies is the boat building facility for SailGP that has recently relocated to Southampton from New Zealand. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a talent for analysing financial data, ability to learn and work with financial systems, have an eye for detail and work efficiently under tight timelines. Essential Responsibilities: Support budget holders coding and entering purchase orders and invoices Raising PO’s for event contractors who support the Tech Team Responsible for reconciling outstanding purchase orders and chasing internal stakeholders to obtain supplier invoices in a timely manner Setting up weekly payment runs for SailGP Technologies suppliers Support SailGP Technologies monthly payroll process, reconciliation and reporting Maintenance of NetSuite - creating new vendors, customers, cost centers and maintaining existing records Support SailGP Technologies staff with monthly credit card reconciliations, posting transactions and liaising with credit card holders Being the first point of contact to any supplier queries and chasing outstanding debtors Reconciling monthly supplier statements and ensure any discrepancies are resolved promptly Checking staff expense submissions are in line with company policy Liaise with travel team to reconcile all travel related charges Assist finance team with departmental inquiries Assist finance team with the month-end close process and any adhoc requirements on a timely basis Prioritise key tasks to meet daily target Growth Opportunities Transition to accounting for teams and other departments Educational support for professional designations Requirements Passion for forging a career in Finance and Accounting Experience working in an administrative level position in a finance team (desirable) Experience working in manufacturing/development industries (desirable) Meticulous attention to detail (to demonstrate this please enter "Powered by nature, driven by purpose" on your CV or Cover Letter) Educated to degree level or equivalent Highly computer literate with capability in MS Office and related business and communication tools Hands-on self-starter with proven ability to multi-task.
