Here’s what you’ll do: Your primary focus in the brand-new role of Associate Director – Overhead Line Lead is to provide project technical leadership for the overhead lines teams on transmission projects. This team will work on various projects encompassing overhead transmission lines up to 400kV. You’ll provide technical expertise in bids and proposals and represent the company in client meetings as an Associate Director – Overhead Line, applying your experience and expertise to a range of exciting and interesting projects. Your role will be varied and interesting, leading the following Overhead Line (OHL) remit: You will provide technical leadership in delivering overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects. Take full responsibility for project scope, resourcing, technical delivery, and client management for overhead line works within projects. Provide expert technical evaluations and offer problem-solving solutions to different team members. Prepare written proposals outlining all project details, including the timeline, resources, budget, objectives, and goals. Provide the right technical guidance and input throughout the project implementation, statutory planning, and participation in public consultation events. Technical responsibilities and expertise: Responsible for overseeing engineering and design activities related to the overhead line. This encompasses PLS-CADD modelling, meticulous line routing, comprehensive structural analysis and loading trees, formulation of design criteria, precise sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor blowout, swing angle, damper system recommendations, strategic structural spotting, thorough clearance reports, and judicious conductor and insulator selection. Undertaking feasibility studies, performing conductor thermal ratings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
