Environmental Health Officer – Food Safety Section
Food, Safety, Events & Planning Team
Fixed term post for 3 years.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Environmental Health Practitioner with the necessary training and experience to work on a temporary basis in our Food, Safety, Events and Planning Team to undertake Food Safety inspection work.
This is an exciting time to join our team of enthusiastic and professional officers who have an established wealth of knowledge and experience in food safety legislation. Our objective is to support our local businesses and, in doing so, residents and visitors to the city, ensuring safe, hygienic and well-maintained commercial premises for all to access and enjoy.
What you will be doing:
* Enforcing food safety and food standards interventions across the city through the FSA inspection programme, including advice on food labelling and allergens to businesses.
* Responding to a wide range of requests for service across the team.
* Giving support and advice to Public Health colleagues in relation to infectious disease outbreaks.
* Provide and maintain a high standard of customer service.

What we are looking for
* A Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline CIEH EHRB or Chartered Practitioner registration.
* A good understanding of the regulatory framework, guidance, and good practice in relation to Food Safety, Hygiene and Standards.
* An ability to work alone or as part of a team.
* An ability to deal effectively with members of the public and business operators.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required with proven ability to deliver services.
* An ability to organise and manage your workload to meet team objectives.
We will provide you with a laptop and other essential equipment to support working in an agile way. There will be a requirement to work from the Civic Centre some days per week to meet colleagues and work in a collaborative environment.
