Do you like to be busy and enjoy problem solving? Do you enjoy a career where two days are never the same? If you are enthusiastic and passionate about supporting disabled children, young people and their families, this is the job for you.
The Service & Team:
The team is supportive, fun, and creative. This role will be part of a team of 2 SCIP Workers and managed by the Team Lead. The team also includes Portage Workers, Disabled Children's Family Workers, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and people who help families with their direct payments.
The Disabled Children and Therapy Service is a multi-disciplinary team that works together to provide help and support for children and young people with disabilities. We are a supportive team who work closely together and are passionate about our jobs. Working in a multi-disciplinary team provides great day-to-day opportunities to learn from each other and to ensure children have the support they need.
The Role:
SCIP is a community service that provides support at home, in school, and in the local community for children with additional needs. SCIP Workers work directly with disabled children and their families to identify and work towards the things that are important to them and support them to achieve their goals. They are advocates for the children they work with and work alongside other professionals from education, health, social care, and the voluntary sector. The work focuses on prevention, early intervention, and coordination through the Early Support Team Around the Child (TAC) plan. SCIP works with the whole family to co-design a tailored approach to the needs of the child/young person so that things improve for them. This can negate the need to escalate some children/young people to statutory social work intervention.
SCIP Workers are passionate and committed to working with disabled children and young people aged 0 to 18 years and their parents/carers.
SCIP Workers are supported to attend specific training so that they can use a range of evidence-based approaches and intervention skills such as Positive Behaviour Support, Signs of Safety, and Motivational Interviewing. They use a solution-focused approach to their work.
SCIP Workers are part of the Disabled Children & Therapy Service (DC&TS), which is a specialist, multi-disciplinary team that supports disabled children, young people, and their families.
