An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Urology department within NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The department seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced individual to assist in delivery of safe, effective and excellent urological services within the hospital. The department of surgery provide comprehensive elective and emergency services at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and cater to a population of 150,000. The successful applicant will join a dynamic MDT consisting of 2 Consultants, 2 Specialty Doctors (including this post), Trainee Urology ANP, Nurse Consultant, Uro-Oncology clinical nurse specialists and is supported by ward level FY1’s. The speciality doctor role is pivotal in the provision of day time services for both in-patients and emergency presentations, whilst opportunities to develop elective surgical and diagnostic skills are supported. The department boasts excellent tertiary links with NHS Lothian and are part of the South East of Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN). Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and at least four years post graduation with experience of working at post-foundation level in Urology. Successful applicants will be supported through CESR if this is their intention. Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is based on the western outskirts of the town. The region offers beautiful countryside, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to forests, hills and rolling plains. There is a wide range of activities on offer, with watersports, fishing, birdwatching, golf, mountain-biking or cycling along the network of rural roads and much more.
