Manufacturing Engineer

The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Andover.
Overview of the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide safe documented control systems designed to facilitate automotive manufacturing assemblies, with a “Right First Time” methodical approach and a focus on quality.
Responsibilities
1. Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company.
2. Serve as an Expert Manufacturing Engineer in a cross-functional environment with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, product management and suppliers to optimise manufacturing ability.
3. Support AME in program activities for NPI to produce Manufacturing Engineering key targets.
4. Implement and develop documentation processes and tooling through approved portfolio project and change management release processes, ensuring ongoing control and quality checks are undertaken through the build process.
5. Ensure all necessary product information (BOP, PFMEA, Process Flow charts, Work Instruction sheets, etc.) are current and readily available, and adhered to through the build process with any changes captured.
6. Prepare capital expenditure estimates for new product and existing product change by evaluating equipment and tooling costs, managing cost and change processes, and reporting any deviations to top management.
7. Implement and continuously improve documentation, production tooling, equipment, and operator training to meet standards and final sign-off requirements.
8. Procure tooling, equipment, and materials through the internal purchasing system.
9. Document concepts that include specification of equipment and make recommendations for the technical selection of purchased equipment.
10. Introduce lean manufacturing principles to optimise effectiveness of the manufacturing operations.
11. Support AME by identifying, investigating, testing, and validating new innovative process technology and work methods to be implemented and thereafter ensure they are maintained and adhered to.
12. Serve as a critical supplier to Manufacturing/Production, understanding their needs and effectively communicating to contain and resolve concerns and issues.
13. Provide support to less experienced process engineers and may mentor other team members.
Essential Skills
1. Experience of working within an Automotive/Manufacturing environment with relevant experience as a Manufacturing/Production Engineer within a fast-paced, forward-thinking business.
2. Strong background covering Manufacturing Engineering principles.
3. Experience of working on Race Cars, Restomods and OEM vehicles from the ground up.
4. Strong advocate for Quality in the company and outside, with suppliers and other stakeholders.
5. Proven ability to liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers and service providers.
6. Lean experience and able to manage CI projects.
7. Ability to manage one's own time and prioritise workload accordingly across multiple projects.
8. Effective team member, working with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.
9. Experienced in generating standard work instructions, man assignments, and process flows.
10. Able to identify risks, use problem-solving techniques, develop, and safely implement new processes within a production and manufacturing environment.
11. Experience with BOMs and Change Management processes.
12. Understanding of industry and regulatory requirements such as Quality System Regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPIs).
Desirable Skills
1. Experience of Body in White and working with carbon fibre, competency in CAD design packages and CMM equipment.
