Astute's Power Team are working exclusively with Marchwood Power Limited who own & operate Marchwood Gas Fired Power Station in Southampton, Hampshire. This plant is able to produce 900MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration.
Due to a retirement we are now looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Lead to join the management team on site at Marchwood. The EHS Lead will ensure the site is fully compliant with all Environmental, Health & Safety matters, reporting directly to the General Manager. You'll play a positive role in promoting an already excellent safety culture on site as well as management of the environmental management system.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Environmental, Health & Safety Lead, you will be responsible for:
1. Reviewing and maintaining company wide Environmental, Health & Safety policies, legislation, compliance issues, strategy and procedures across the asset.
2. Oversee the administration of the Management Systems including EHS Legal Register and Corporate policies.
3. Manage EHS performance whilst promoting the excellent EHS culture.
4. Monitoring site wide compliance, conducting audits and inspections and report to stakeholders (including Board of Directors) & external regulators.
5. Working alongside 3rd parties such as the environment agency, Energy UK, specialist contractors and independent advisors on all EHS matters.
6. Leading any EHS investigations on incidents / risks.
7. Overseeing the sites environmental permits to ensure compliance with the Environment Agency and relevant statutory bodies.
8. Providing site wide coaching to enhance EHS understanding and skills.
9. Develop risk assessments and safe systems of work.
10. Conduct Root Cause Analysis and incident investigations.
11. Develop and manage the assets EHS budget.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Ideally degree qualified in a relevant HSE field and either working towards or have already achieved chartership status.
2. Holder of NEBSOH in Occupational Safety & Health as well as a professional membership such as TechIOSH or AIEMA.
3. Lead Auditor certificate
4. Legionella Responsible Person
Personal skills
The EHS Lead would suit someone with:
1. At least five years Environmental, Health & Safety experience (H&S bias) in a heavy industry such as Process Plant, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power Station or similar.
2. Working knowledge of Construction, Design & Management (CDM) regulations.
3. Proven experience in EHS auditing & investigations, preferably as an accredited Lead Auditor for ISO standards (ISO 14001 and 45001).
4. It would be advantageous to have working experience with gas & steam plant such as Turbines, Boilers and Power Generation equipment.
