ROLE SUMMARY:
Northfields International School is a premier independent co-educational day school in Mauritius that provides an English-medium education for over 1200 boys and girls aged between 18 months and 18 years. Northfields is well known for its traditional values, family atmosphere, and sustained emphasis on the holistic development of each student. The Northfields campus in Labourdonnais is situated on owned freehold property and incorporates numerous subject classrooms, dedicated science labs, computer suites, art studios, a design and Special Education Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support rooms. Northfields offers internationally recognised educational programmes and qualifications for Montessori, Cambridge, and International Baccalaureate. The curriculum progression in the school begins with Montessori Pre-Nursery, followed by either the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at NIPS or the Montessori Programme at NIMS. Students from both Primary Schools may progress to Secondary School at NIHS, where they follow the 5-year IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Years 7-11, culminating with the Cambridge IGCSE examination at the end of Year 11. Students in Sixth Form then follow the 2-year IB Diploma Programme (DP).

We are looking for a Network and System Administrator to join our team. The objectives for the Network and System Administrator are to manage our IT infrastructure and the extensive range of IT software and hardware throughout the school while ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to ensure the security and proper running of our systems at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Create and manage staff accounts on school systems, ensuring timely deactivation of leaver accounts and regular review of active accounts.
* Provide front-line support to staff, students, and parents, including assistance with passwords, network access, and email accounts.
* Acquire knowledge of all software used across the school to assist staff and provide training to end-users on new or updated software.
* Monitor system health, including logs, reports, and email notifications, and take action to prevent performance issues or downtime.
* Implement proactive measures for unforeseen issues like system downtime or virus attacks.
* Maintain network integrity by ensuring software and firmware updates, appropriate security measures, and monitoring network activity to protect data.
* Ensure hardware and software are maintained with patches, licenses, and are fit for use, including Office 365 and other programs.
* Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT hardware, software, licenses, warranties, and ensure compliance with license agreements.
* Assist in the purchase of new IT equipment by staying updated on relevant technologies, making recommendations, and overseeing installation and user training.
* Perform data backups, VM replications, data restoration, disaster recovery operations, and documentation of recovery drills.
* Manage the technical aspects of the school website, including content or layout updates.
* Define and implement system usage policies and procedures to ensure operational consistency and compliance.
Standby:
Due to the nature of your job, you may be required to work beyond the normal working hours whereby you will be on call after school hours till 20:00 from Monday to Saturday. You must also from time to time watch out for any critical alert from the server, server room temperature monitoring and UPS and to act if required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* A degree/ Advance Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science;
* At least 3 years of experience in a similar position, education sector experience is desirable.
Knowledge:
* Experience in managing Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
* Knowledge of networks and network equipment including firewalls.
* Knowledge of server management and security principles.
* Ability to work independently and to successfully manage multiple priorities.
* Ability to troubleshoot and fix user problems with hardware and software.
