Main duties of the job As a Clinical Sister/ Charge Nurse you will provide clinical and professional leadership, supervision and support to patient, nursing staff and students. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialist nursing, advice and carries out specialist nursing procedures including providing education, surveillance and insertion of Vascular Access devices including peripheral cannulas, Mid-lines and PICC lines (peripherally inserted central catheters). The post holder may undertake research, lead clinical audits in own specialist area. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and improved patient experience through the adoption of person centred care principles. The SMART Service is nurse led, therefore the ability to work autonomously as well as effectively within a team is essential. The work will include driving to visit patients in the community therefore it is essential that you have a full UK driving license and a car. Specific training will be provided to facilitate the pathways covered by SMART Vascular Access. Confidence, good communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions is vital.
