Main duties of the job
Comply with Social Work England professional standards.
Support the Safeguarding Team to deliver the Safeguarding Development and Improvement plan.
Understand and comply with the law to safeguard all people who use our services and understand factors that impact children and adults including but not limited to abuse, social inclusion, mental capacity and diversity.
Build effective, professional relationships with multidisciplinary teams, people who use our services, families/carers and lead safeguarding case work across the Trust, setting standards and demonstrating accountability for practice decisions.
Provide training, mentoring, support and guidance to staff, families and carers when required.

Originally founded in 1823, Seashell is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The Trust comprises of the Royal School Manchester, the Royal College Manchester, 17 bespoke Residential Care Homes, Outreach Health and Family Services.

Job responsibilities
Accountable to: Head of Safeguarding
Direct Reports: Close collaboration to support Head of Safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead(s) with relevant qualitative and quantitative data and information for reporting.
Salary: Aligned to SST job evaluation.
Disclosure level: Enhanced Child and Adult barred list check.
Budget Accountability: Safeguarding.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a social care, education/health setting executing safeguarding duties in line with relevant legislation.
* Experience of safeguarding case work with children, adults at risk of abuse and families.
* Managing complex case work, engaging with multi-disciplinary professionals.
* Mental Capacity Act 2005 assessments and best interest procedures.
* Experience of delivering evidence-based practice through direct work with children and adults at risk.
* Delivery of projects and initiatives to strengthen safeguarding knowledge across staff teams and service user groups (e.g. Online Safety).
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of the risk and protective factors that affect a service user group with special educational needs and disabilities.
* Ability to employ a range of skills to engage, communicate and safeguard service users with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
* Ability to produce a variety of professional documents/resources.
* Good working knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024, The Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015, Health and Social Care Act 2012.
Qualifications
* Professional Social Work qualification (social work degree or DipSW).
* Registered social worker.
* Relevant CPD or qualifications to evidence a sound working knowledge of statutory safeguarding procedures.
* Experience of early help, thrive models and think family procedures.
* Experience of early intervention and support for adults at risk.
* Experience of co-production with service user groups.
* Understand the social model of disability.
* Relevant CPD or associated training to evidence knowledge of social care theory, record keeping, evidence-based practice in social care, categories of abuse (children and adults at risk), data protection and managing, storing and sharing safeguarding data.
