We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team.
Apprenticeship Summary:
* Salary: £6.40 an hour
* Working Week: Monday to Friday 8am – 3:30pm - with a 30-minute lunch break
* Hours: 35 hours per week
* Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors
* Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
* Location: Thurcroft Junior Academy, Green Arbour Rd, Thurcroft, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, S66 9DD
The Role:
To work under the direction and instruction of appropriate staff to support access to learning for pupils by assisting the teacher, including the preparation of resources, implementing agreed work programmes with individuals/groups both within and out of the classroom, and providing general support in the management of pupils in the classroom.
Main Duties:
Support for Pupils
* Promote good behaviour and assist in resolving conflicts, ensuring pupil safety, and providing personal and welfare support.
* Supervise and support pupils in all activities, including trips, fostering cooperation, self-esteem, and independence.
* Provide feedback on progress and achievement as directed by the teacher.
Support for the Teacher
* Assist in creating an inclusive and effective learning environment by preparing classrooms, displays, and resources.
* Support with behaviour management, pupil monitoring, and maintaining constructive relationships with parents/carers.
* Provide administrative and exam-related support, such as photocopying, marking, and invigilation.
Support for the Curriculum
* Help pupils access learning activities and understand instructions, adjusting support to their needs.
* Assist with literacy, numeracy, and ICT, promoting independence in their use.
* Prepare and maintain learning equipment and resources.
Support for the Academy
* Follow policies on child protection, health, safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities.
* Collaborate with other professionals and participate in training, meetings, and performance development.
* Supervise pupils outside lessons, attend school events, and occasionally work outside standard hours as needed.
The role is based at Thurcroft Junior Academy but may involve working at other locations within the trust.

Training and Development:

* Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma.
* On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
* Regular review meetings to track progress and development.
