An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a vital role in Pharmacy Procurement and Support Services. Your expertise will be instrumental in the delivery of safe, cost-effective, patient-centered care, ensuring access to the correct medicines at the right time while also focusing on cost-effectiveness and efficiency in the procurement process.
The successful candidate will be required to work within a large Pharmacy team and must be able to communicate complex information effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have excellent time management skills, an ability to manage their own workload, and experience in staff management and training.
Main duties of the job
* Support the sourcing, procurement, and stock management of medicines, ensuring supply is efficiently maintained at UHBW.
* Actively manage the 'Off Contract' claims activity in accordance with department procedures and guidelines and ensure all documentation and systems are kept up to date, filed, and efficiently maintained.
* Co-ordination of Pharmacy Support Services alongside existing co-ordinator.
* Maintain regulatory compliance, manage stock levels, and implement support systems to avoid shortages, waste, or inefficiencies.
* Work alongside our healthcare and administrative teams, offering expertise and guidance on medication usage, availability, and inventory control.
* Assist with all aspects of human resource management including recruitment, interviews, sickness, attendance, training, and development of staff, in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* The role will be split between Pharmacy Procurement and Support Services.

Qualifications & Training
* Registration with the GPhC
* Final Accuracy Checking accreditation
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Management or leadership course
* CIPs accreditation or equivalent
Skills and Abilities
* Good influencing skills required for communication with a wide range of healthcare professionals and external partners and suppliers.
* Good verbal and written communication skills to enable effective communications with patients, their carers/relatives, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
* Ability to identify problems and find solutions to them.
* Use of pharmacy IT systems.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and complete work on time.
* Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise own and others’ work to meet agreed deadlines, including managing work rotas.
* Understanding of medical and nursing practice, record keeping, and terminology.
Knowledge and Experience
* Recent NHS hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician in a range of roles within pharmacy such as medicines dispensing, procurement, and supply procedures and practices.
* Understanding of confidentiality and how to apply.
* Experience of financial management.
* Experience of undertaking project and/or audit work.
* Experience of managing/supervising other pharmacy staff.
* Demonstrable achievement in planning and service development or continuous quality improvement.
* Demonstrable experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
* Experience of staff training, assessment, and performance management.
* Experience of recruitment and selection processes.
* Experience of writing standard operating procedures.
* Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Wholesale Dealers Authorisation WDA(H) requirements.
