We are looking for two dedicated Employment & Training Support Officers to join our newly established Education & Training Team, providing crucial assistance to those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. This is an opportunity to be part of a service that delivers real impact, offering personalised guidance and advocacy for bereaved families, survivors, and local residents.
The two positions are as follows:
* Employment and Financial Support Officer (Bereaved and Survivors) - Full time - 5 days per week
* Employment and Financial Support Officer (Community) - Part time - 4 days per week
You will provide one-to-one support to help individuals overcome employment and financial challenges, ensuring they can access the right opportunities and resources for their future. This role requires empathy, resilience, and the ability to build trusted relationships with those affected, offering emotional and practical support to help them navigate housing, welfare benefits, and mental health services. Your role will include:
* Helping individuals secure jobs, training, and financial stability.
* Advising on welfare benefits, grants, and budgeting.
* Collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to advocate for those in need.
* Empowering people to make informed decisions about their education, careers, and financial well-being.
Key differences in each role:
Employment and Financial Support Officer (Bereaved and Survivors)
* This role involves managing a smaller caseload of approximately 500 eligible adults, providing a range of short, medium and long-term support to the bereaved and survivors in employment, training and financial stability
* You will bring natural empathy and feels energised by empowering individuals to work towards their employment, education or training goals
Employment and Financial Support Officer (Community)
* This role supports a larger caseload from approximately 11,000 + eligible adults, initially working with individuals looking for career progression, a change of direction or those who have been unemployed for less than 12 months.
* You will connect them with employers, training programs, and partner organisations to facilitate job opportunities.
* A proactive mindset, creative problem-solving, and the ability to connect people with opportunities are essential for this role.
What we are looking for:
* A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting individuals' needs.
* Strong communication and administrative skills, including record-keeping, report writing, and correspondence.
* Ideally, experience in employment, financial support, and working knowledge of the Welfare Benefits provision.
* Knowledge of employment barriers affecting diverse communities and the support available to help individuals into work.
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice and its application in support services.
* Skilled in building and sustaining positive relationships with residents and agencies, working cooperatively while maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
* Ability to manage a caseload and deliver tailored guidance to those in need.
