Define methods, operations and sequences for qualification testing of components, assemblies and products. Engineering support of a product development team. Follow product development cycle (V-model) including requirements capture and verification to requirements. Establish and document engineering procedures. What you will do: Analyse and understand customer and regulatory requirements. Carry out feasibility studies to determine most suitable topologies to meet requirements. Design and debug power electronic circuits, components and PCB assemblies for new product development and sustaining projects. Design, prototype and test the custom electromagnetic components. Design, test and optimise control loop stability Design, setup and run tests to ensure the design meets specifications. Develop and apply new techniques, circuits and tests for product design. Maintain records and documentation on all designs, tests and analysis. Apply current techniques and tools to improve cost, design time, reliability, durability, and manufacturability. Work within a design team to complete assigned objectives. Troubleshoot circuits from prototypes, development, and customer returns. Participate in the preparation of development specifications. Assist other departments in the resolution of design related problems that arise during any phase of development or production. Mentor other hardware engineers. Assist with UKEC growth, input to infrastructure and new processes All other duties as assigned. What you will need: Bachelors degree or equivalent, plus 7 years experience in power electronics design, Motor Drives or static power conversion. Experience of designing power circuitry to operate at low voltage/high current 12V/24V/48V and 200A to 1500A Experience of designing power circuitry to operate at High voltage/high current 300V to 1000V and 200A to 800A Experience with different power silicon technologies and ability to choose the best solution for the requirements Experience of gate drive circuits and technologies. Experience of designing low voltage signal level control circuits (micro processors, pwm generation, signal conditioning) Experience with design of electromagnetic components (high frequency transformers, filter chokes). Experience of product safety requirements (functional safety as well as electrical safety and isolation systems). Demonstrated ability to develop designs to meet project costs, performance and schedules. Demonstrated knowledge of good engineering practices. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards and design to meet them. Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Test. Demonstrated knowledge of EMC and ESD principles and practices. Demonstrated knowledge of PCB layout and schematic capture tools. Demonstrated knowledge of circuit analysis, simulation and design of experiments. Excellent interpersonal skills, including mentoring capabilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
