We are recruiting for a Clinical Lead, an enthusiastic and highly skilled nurse with expertise in eating disorders who is both a strong clinician and leader, Director of Clinical Services/Matron/Team Lead/Clinical Lead to join an inpatient hospital team for adults with eating disorders in High Wycombe.

This is a 14 bedded, specialist eating disorder service for mixed gender adults. Priory Hospital Marlow is located just outside in an outer suburb of High Wycombe, within easy access of the M40, M25, Central London, and the nearby towns of Marlow and Maidenhead.
Reporting into the Hospital Director, the Clinical Lead is a member of the hospital Senior Management Team and is wholly responsible for the leadership and delivery of clinical services operations, expert nursing care working in close partnership with therapy colleagues and medical staff within the hospital.
The post holder will ensure the highest level of patient care is provided to all patients.
Your role as the Clinical Lead will be to work closely with the Hospital Director on the operational delivery of nursing services at the Hospital. You will also oversee the nursing team, working in partnership with the full MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) to design and implement packages of care and ensure the quality of services delivered, including a Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.
This role is close to Matron/Team Lead/Clinical Lead within the NHS.
The job holder must currently hold a full clean driving licence and have been qualified for 3 years. The job holder must be RMN/RNLD qualified, with Eating Disorder experience.
Key Responsibilities - Leadership:
The Clinical Lead plays a key part in developing and delivering the hospital strategy, providing operational and clinical leadership to the team.
Deputises for the Hospital Director in their absence.
Overall responsibility for all clinical departments’ performance and governance.
Acts as a visible role model, mentor, and leader, creating a culture that promotes learning, development, inquiry, and professionalism, celebrates achievements, and shares learning to the benefit of the ward, hospital, and wider division.
Manages the delivery of the clinical services business plan ensuring the effective and efficient management and control of staffing, budgets, materials, and equipment.
Promotes effective working relationships across the multidisciplinary teams.
Ensures relevant staff work within the standards and frameworks of professional codes of conduct and takes remedial action as appropriate.
As part of the Senior Management team, will carry out on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director.
Ensures site objectives are being met and encourages a high quality of service.
Staff Management:
Manages the ward and resources effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills is in place, including effective rota management (12 weeks in advance), annual leave/training arrangements, and sickness and absence management.
Reviews staffing daily, ensuring compliance against the staffing ladders and reviews trends, under or over staffing, and puts in place actions to remedy.
Responsible for ensuring that the staffing models are adhered to in the clinical services team, maintaining safe staffing levels.
Ensures that all members of the nursing team receive clinical supervision, complete mandatory training, appraisal, and have opportunities to further develop their careers and encourages and supports CPD applications.
Responsible for delivering site career pathways for clinical staff, including talent mapping and succession planning.
Addresses shortfalls in development and ensures that training and performance issues are addressed.
Recognises and rewards positive performance by the nursing staff, commensurate with their roles and responsibilities.
Manages and develops a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
Responsible for ensuring that sound recruitment processes and retention plans are in place to drive down turnover and raise engagement.
Ensures effective management of the relationship with Higher Education Institutes to support placements for all learners.
Regulation and Compliance:
Works in conjunction with the Hospital Director to ensure delivery of the highest level of clinical and therapeutic care, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards and delivering against quality performance indicators, including CQC Regulations, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberties as per Priory Policy and national requirements.
Accountable for ensuring timely completion and implementation of action plans in respect of regulatory and corporate requirements.
Clinical Governance:
Provides leadership, organisation, and coordination to ensure effective clinical governance.
Responsible for the implementation of effective clinical interventions and ensures that treatment is designed to enhance the operation and quality of clinical services and is aligned to best practice.
Ensures that incident reporting is completed promptly and takes corrective action where required, engaging colleagues in the process, where appropriate.
Leads team reviews of incidents; ensures staff receive incident debriefs in a timely manner.
Delivers coaching and training as necessary in relation to developing and improving quality and practice.
Contributes to the development of Priory policies, procedures, processes, and initiatives.
You will be expected to provide cover and support to the wider team and site as needed.
Liaises with the ward pharmacist and acts promptly regarding items identified by pharmacist audits or other requirements.
Undertakes and completes clinical investigations and complaints, as well as HR investigations, ensuring these are completed thoroughly, promptly, and to a high standard.
Knowledge / Education / Skills:
Professional NMC registration.
Mental Health (RMN) or Learning Disability (RNLD) qualified.
Strong clinical experience in Eating Disorders and evidence of continuing professional development.
A detailed understanding of statutory regulations is essential.
Passionate about providing high-quality care and continuous improvement.
Experience in devising and undertaking quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice.
Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills are essential.
