This role involves large volumes of data analysis to be used within our month-end process.

Main duties of the job
1. Working within a team to provide robust monthly management accounting and reporting processes.
2. Assist in the preparation and provision of financial advice and support to budget holders and their staff.
3. Provide timely, accurate, and relevant financial advice and support to budget holders, including support to the Finance Managers to service the needs of the Executive team.
4. Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and maintained to deliver the financial duties and objectives of the organisation.

Job responsibilities
1. Work closely with the Head of Finance, Finance Managers, and budget holders to provide a comprehensive, timely, and efficient service.
2. Assist the Finance Managers in the preparation of monthly budget reports, including exception reporting and cost centre analyses in line with internal and external deadlines/timescales.
3. Responsible for the collation and distribution of monthly budget reports and staff lists to budget holders in line with the monthly timetable, ensuring the circulation list is accurate and up to date.
4. Responsible for the processing/input of journals into the finance ledger (Business Central), including validating the input to ensure that budget reports reflect accurate spend with appropriate accruals and prepayments.
5. Adhere to Spectrum's staffing establishment control procedures and report on key staffing information including bank, agency, and overtime usage costs as required.
6. Assist the Finance Managers in ensuring that all staff appointments are made via the correct process and within recurrent budget.
7. Undertake financial analysis of budgets to produce and analyse financial trends and benchmark internally.
8. Assist the Finance Managers in the preparation required for regular budget monitoring meetings to ensure that they are constructive and informative.
9. Assist in the setting of robust budgets for the forthcoming year and provide monthly reconciliations to the Finance Managers.
10. Ensure compliance with Spectrum Standing Financial instructions and financial procedures.
11. Assist in the continuous improvement of service provision, procedures, and practices.
12. Assist the Head of Finance and Finance Managers with the actioning of audit recommendations where necessary.
13. Any other duties required, including a wide variety of ad-hoc reporting as determined by the Finance Managers.
14. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time in regard to inputting and analysing data, reconciling and answering queries.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* AAT Qualified (NVQ Level 4/Technician level), Finance Degree or equivalent experience
* Studying for a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and financial procedures
* Knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Skills
* Ability to analyse data and identify key themes and trends.
* Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, achieving tight deadlines.
* Advanced skills on Microsoft Office packages, quick and accurate input of data to spreadsheets.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in working with financial information.
* Developed Excel spreadsheets of complex financial information tailored to meet the end user's needs.
Other requirements
* Excellent organisation skills with ability to prioritise own work, and work of others, to meet deadlines.
