Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Class Teacher to join our dynamic primary school in Hemel Hempstead starting Easter 2025. This full-time, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the educational journey of our Year 6 students as they prepare for their transition to secondary school.
As a Year 6 Class Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering a stimulating and rigorous curriculum, ensuring that students are fully prepared for their end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments. You will be responsible for fostering a passion for learning, building resilience, and equipping children with the skills and knowledge they need for their future academic journey.
Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of Year 6 students.
Prepare students for SATs, ensuring they are confident and well-prepared for the end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments.
Provide constructive feedback to support the academic, personal, and social development of students.
Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and plan interventions as necessary.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel valued and supported.
Encourage independent learning and critical thinking, while fostering students personal development and well-being.
Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, keeping parents regularly informed of their child's progress.
Contribute to the wider school community through participation in school events, staff meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching strategies.
Key Requirements: A valid teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
Proven experience teaching within a primary school setting, ideally in Key Stage 2.
In-depth knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum, SATs preparation, and the developmental needs of children at this stage.
Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and focused learning environment.
Passion for teaching and a genuine desire to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable: Experience in preparing students for SATs and end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments.
Knowledge of current trends and initiatives in primary education.
Experience in supporting children with additional needs (SEN).
