We are looking for an experienced HCA to join our friendly team at Redlam Surgery. General Practice is an exciting place to work with a varied role for HCAs alongside other healthcare professionals in a busy but supportive team.
The working hours for the role are 15 hours per week Monday-Friday with a possibility of the hours increasing.
Main duties of the job
JOB TITLE: HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: GP Partner Clinical Lead for Nursing Staff
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Assist in Joint Annual Review Clinics with the Practice Nurses
2. NHS Health Checks and Carers Reviews
3. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
4. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
5. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual i.e. Flu, Pneumo, B12 and Shingles immunisations if and when appropriately trained
6. Raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
7. Assisting with booking of practice nurse appointments
8. New patient health checks
9. Urinalysis
10. Care & maintenance of equipment including annual/periodic calibration
11. Basic Life Support and first responder (if appropriately trained)
12. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
13. Stock taking and ordering
14. Assisting GP with coil and implant appointments

Redlam Surgery is a 3 GP partner practice with a practice list size of 4500 patients. We are a training practice which means that you may have medical students observing and participating in your clinical sessions.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in accordance with the NMC
* Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice
* Experience of dealing with the public/patients
* Experience of working in General Practice
Qualifications
* Demonstrate commitment to professional development
* HCA Care Certificate
* Experience with EMIS web preferred, but training would be provided.
* Certificate for Immunisation of Flu, Pneumo, Shingles and B12
