Job overview
We would welcome applicants who are keen to make a difference and join the dedicated team on Ward 6. Ward 6 is a 35 bedded, busy medical ward with specialities in stroke and frail elderly care. The ward also incorporates the 4 bedded Acute Stroke Unit.
Our team pride themselves on exceeding the expectations of our patients and their families and you can be assured of our commitment to your personal and professional development. A full preceptorship package is available to support your needs. Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the patient with personal care, nutrition and fluid management.
2. Report to and support the registered nurse.
3. Ensure the environment is kept clean and tidy.
4. Follow the infection prevention guidance.
Person specification
Experience
* Worked in a care setting
* Experience with manual handling of patients
* Worked in a Hospital environment
Education and Qualification
* Completion of NHS care certificate or equivalent relevant experience to level 3
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
* Able to maintain accurate patient records
* Able to work on own initiative with limited supervision, as well as part of a team
* Communicate effectively and report changes in patients' conditions
* Able to deliver a range of clinical care duties, clinical observations, blood glucose monitoring, ECGs, simple wound dressings
