About the role
Oak Paddock is a 4 bedded Crisis House based in Racecourse Lane, close to the Redwoods Centre in Shrewsbury. The remit is to support the Service Lead and the Team in providing therapeutic support to those referred by the Crisis Team and Community Mental Health Teams. We are looking to recruit a compassionate staff member to join our team to support people experiencing mental health crisis's.

About You
Roles and responsibilities
Provide support to guests and to ensure the smooth running of the service under the guidance of the team supervisor/manager
Reliable and punctual
Prepare and cook simple but nutritious meals
•Able to work flexibly within a 24hr Rolling Rota system, which will include weekend working and sleep in shifts

To support customers in preparations to move on from Oak Paddock, liaising with care coordinators, crisis team, social workers, and other care providers.
Staff must maintain the confidentiality of all customers and any staff information they become aware of.
Skills and knowledge
A working knowledge of Mental Health legislation
An understanding of mental health services, including prevention, early intervention, and crisis management
Experience of working within a busy support environment
Experience of keeping accurate and compliant records
Good communication skills both verbally and non-verbally
Good working knowledge of Microsoft IT applications
Reliable and punctual
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Use of initiative

Working in a mental health crisis house it is essential and important that all mandatory training is up to date and staff have the skills to support in challenging situations that may arise. Training will be provided to the successful candidate to equip them with the skills and knowledge of working within a fast-paced environment. Candidates will preferably hold a Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care though experience will also be considered, and full training given, and it is important that the successful candidate understands mental health legislation.
