Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager will ensure excellent delivery of proactive sales for Unity Place Meeting Spaces. Responsible for the development and growth of event business. You will have a clear understanding of the market and its trends and be a true event sales specialist. The role will focus on generating and converting pipeline opportunities for meetings, conferences and banquets, networking, presentations, and hosting customer showcases. An excellent communicator and financially savvy with a passion for food.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To identify a pipeline of target customers
2. To achieve agreed sales targets through proactive selling to these target customers
3. To support & drive the conversion of key bookings for the Unity Place
4. To conduct show-rounds and site visits with key customers
5. Account management of key accounts using the brick wall technique
6. Lead innovative campaigns for the Sales and Marketing plan for Unity Place
7. To support the creation and execution of key selling strategies, ensuring their continued appropriateness against current market conditions, market intelligence and benchmarking statistics
8. To always be aware of sales activity/initiatives of our competitors and use this market intelligence, acting upon it to ensure Unity Place obtains its market share in this sector
9. To maintain accurate, up-to-date reports and information
10. To maintain contact with key accounts through face to face, telephone, written, direct mail activity and customer events
11. To manage seasonal peaks, troughs and shortfalls in business through effective marketing and promotional strategies
12. To raise interest in Unity Place through campaigns aimed at the key target customers, including customer appointments, proactive calls, showcases, Fam Trips, participation at exhibitions, roadshows and involvement with other key influencers such as Chamber of Commerce and local PA Networks
13. To carry out proactive appointments and research calls per calendar month split between relevant market segments
14. To perform ad hoc tasks as directed
15. To liaise on a weekly basis with the central team to ensure a harmonised approach to sales with an understanding of activity and pricing strategies
16. To ensure all commercial deal information and key accounts information is communicated effectively and to all relevant teams
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge and sales experience within the Milton Keynes / London location corporate event market
2. Evidence in achieving KPIs, account plans and developing business strategy to achieve growth expectations
3. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a proactive sales role
4. Thorough working knowledge of all key market segments and key clients within each segment
5. High degree of commercial awareness
