As a Medical Advisor working within Capita TPDPS, you will embark on a rewarding career, utilising your core skills as a medical doctor in an entirely different way. You will work alongside clinical assessors and auditors as a key member of the clinical advisory function. Your day-to-day focus will include auditing clinical assessments, providing feedback to assessors, participating in multi-disciplinary meetings, and undertaking clinical assessments for applicants to the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme (TPDPS).
Job Description
Medical Advisor – Northern Ireland
* Full-time 37.5 hours per week (30 hours per week would be considered)
What you’ll be doing:
* Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the TPDPS Assessment Guide and Clinical Governance guidance notes.
* Meet face-to-face or virtually with applicants to determine the permanence of their condition and percentage disablement.
* Quality check submitted reports against the audit criteria determined by Clinical Governance and the Victims’ Payment Board (VPB).
* Provide constructive advice to clinical assessors and auditors to enable their continual development.
* Ensure quality and productivity targets are met as established by Capita TPDPS.
* Maintain evidence of personal Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and ensure continuing professional registration.
* Develop clinical knowledge of health conditions/disabilities, remaining clinically calibrated to the standards set by the Chief Medical Advisor Officer/Clinical Governance function.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
* A minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience as a medical doctor.
* Fully registered without sanction or conditions with the GMC.
* A demonstrable background in a Mental Health/Psychiatric specialty.
* A valid full driving licence and access to a car.
* Ability to work at pace and manage conversations within timescales.
* Ability to relate to diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
* Strong report writing skills and proficiency with IT systems.
* Experience with clinical effectiveness, quality assurance, and audit methodology.
* Strong analytical skills, familiar with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience working in the Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) scheme and/or the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) is preferred.
Successful candidates will need to complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting and a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC).
Additional Information
The contracted hours for this role is 37.5 per week (full time). A minimum of 30 hours per week would be considered. Working patterns can be between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, including an hour for lunch, unpaid.
