Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Support Worker to join our team, working in The Centre Surgery, Hinckley. This is a brand new role to complement those already working within the practice. The ideal candidate will provide essential care and support to individuals in a clinical setting. This role requires a strong commitment to provide and maintain the high standard of care for patients within a healthcare setting. Whilst the role is based at The Centre Surgery, the successful candidate will be employed by Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance Ltd.
Main duties of the job
As this is a new role we do anticipate that the role and responsibility will evolve for the successful candidate. Duties will include:
* Completing new patient health checks
* ECG recording
* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and Nurses
* Cleansing and maintenance of medical equipment
* Clearing and re-stocking consultation rooms, rotating items as required
* Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness of nursing and treatment rooms
* Completing vaccinations, once appropriately trained.
About us
The Centre Surgery is part of an APMS contract, that is run by Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance. As such, it has a salaried GP model. With over 5,000 patients, we manage the health and wellbeing of people living with Hinckley. We currently have approximately 20 members of staff, including Additional Roles staff. We work closely with the Primary Care Network and the other 3 practices located within the PCN.
Job responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
* New patient health checks
* ECG recording
* INR monitoring
* Ear syringing
* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
* Cleansing and maintenance of medical equipment
* Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring, recording and re-ordering
* Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
* Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms, rotating items as required. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nursing and treatment rooms
* Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
* Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
* Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
* Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted including promoting physical activity programmes
* Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
* Attend and participate in Practice Nurse and PHCT meetings
* To create and send recall letters for clinics
* GTT
* Breath tests
* Overseeing of the ordering
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified in Phlebotomy.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build rapport with patients.
* A genuine passion for providing high quality patient care.
* Previous experience of working in primary care.
* Familiar with medication administration.
* A background in nursing or related field.
