Salary: up to £28,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Gateshead, Tyne & Wear
Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time - 37 hours per week

A bit about the role
We are looking for someone who has a strong background in children's residential care who is focused and passionate about changing the lives of our children and young people for the better.
We are looking for Children's Therapeutic Residential Worker to become a part of our family home and care for our children and young people who have complex emotional challenges this role can be emotionally and physically challenging. You will need to be dynamic, patient, empathetic and understanding and will support and inspire them grow and flourish.
The Therapeutic Practitioner role encompasses all aspects of care for our young people including supporting the development of their independence, social and life skills and working with the team to provide a safe and secure environment and loving homes for them to live and thrive in.

Ayton Villa is currently a home for two children, offering a warm and inviting environment with a charming outdoor area for the children to relish. It is their cherished home and it is the responsibility of the team to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at all times.
What you'll be doing:
In the role of Therapeutic Residential Worker, you will be promoting Action for Children's values as well as supporting the Registered Manager and team to achieve positive outcomes in the lives of our young people.

* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent
* A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Provide emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.

* Taking responsibility for the personal care and the daily needs of the young people.
* Being resilient in supporting children through challenging situations.
* Being responsible for the safeguarding of young people.

* Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
* Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
* Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
* Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
* Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
