Clinical Specialist – Clinical CSE Bedford
Job: Clinical Specialist – Child Sexual Exploitation Residential Service, Bedford
Salary: Up to £45,000 dependent on experience
Permanent: Full time (40 hours)
Location: Covering a number of residential homes and one school in the Bedford area (within 45mins approx. of central Bedford).
Do you have a mental health nursing/ therapeutic social work or therapy background? Are you interested in taking a clinical leadership position to use your knowledge, skills and experience to support staff teams looking after young people in care? If so, we would like to hear from you.
In this role, you will be required to integrate into the residential and school settings within the region as they will form your primary teams. These teams have had consistent clinical support over the past few years and are not new to therapeutic ways of working. The homes you would be working in are currently rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted. You will then liaise with the specialist CSE clinical teams based in the other 3 regions of the country remotely and occasionally in person to share best practice and new ways of working – ensuring consistency across the areas.
Your role will mainly be comprised of four elements: Assessment (e.g. direct of the young person gathering and synthesising information from various sources – providing a report), Therapeutic work (e.g. direct and indirect interventions via the staff teams), Consultation (e.g. regular sessions with regional manager/homes managers / head teacher, reflective practice, input around risk management etc.) and Upskilling (core training for new starters e.g. attachment & trauma / CSE, designing and delivering workshops to staff based on individual need). You will also have the opportunity to identify areas for clinical service development and project manage these as required.
Due to the nature of the role and context, an understanding of the impact of trauma and experience of working with traumatised individuals, families / systems is essential. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, provide containing support to multiple teams, is fundamentally warm, nurturing and compassionate and can maintain a calm, reflective position. Ideally you will demonstrate initiative and have experience taking a lead role.
