About the Role:
The Quality Engineering Team covers a wide range of activities to ensure the best quality components and assemblies are used to create the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 car. Collaborating with the Design and Engineering Teams, we help to develop product specifications aligned with process capability. We work closely with our external supply base ensuring rapid, robust responses to issue management.
We deliver Continuous Improvement projects to help drive the organisation forward and increase overall efficiency. We support in the management of our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
Industrial Placements in Quality Engineering are flexible to suit your skills and interests. We will ensure that you spend your time working alongside staff who you are able to learn from, working in areas that inspire and motivate you. Our Industrial Placements work on projects that make a direct impact on our F1 programme, and your contribution will be critical to the ongoing success of these projects.
Successful candidates will have:
Essential:
* At least one year left on their studies at the time of taking up the placement in July 2025.
* A solid level of first-principles understanding of mechanics, and problem-solving skills that give an ability to think on your feet.
* Communicative and collaborative skills to deliver effective cross-departmental results.
* Curious, committed to continuous learning, and ability to adapt quickly to change.
* Be studying a degree with relevance to Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical, Mechatronics, Physics).
Desirable:
* Practical experience of building, maintaining, and/or analysing motor/electric vehicles.
* Coding and programming skills (for example: VBA, Python).
* Data analysis skills, including the ability to create visualisations (PowerBI etc).
