Job summary Pharmacy at the Manor Hospital Walsall is looking for an experienced pharmacy technician to work as a band 5 enhanced role in medicines management. Applicants will need to have knowledge and skills and experience to apply to the dispensing of medicines working with complex requests, supply of stock medicines including using automation at ward level accommodating seasonal trends in usage and coordinating the workflow in the dispensary. There is an opportunity to undertake quality improvement projects to make positive changes in medicines supply and patient benefits. Our ward based services have evolved to working at the patients bedside and with nursing staff, to ensure patients receive a positive experience in hospital with their medicines, including on how to use them correctly. Main duties of the job You will perform duties required in your role as a pharmacy technician including accuracy checking of prescriptions and supporting the medicines management team to fully utilise available resources. Your role will include supporting the training of our students and apprentices as part of your daily work. You will be working in the DIspensary, Wards, procurement, distribution. We provide services to Hospices that will also form part of your work. The main function we are integrating is working with nursing staff and our pharmacy teams at ward level to ensure the dispensing of patient specific medicines are done to meet administration times. You will also participate in ward audits to ensure the criteria is followed within the Trust medicines policy.
