Consequently, exceptional financial leadership is critical to our success. As our Head of Finance you will be the operational leader of finance and co-ordinate the annual financial cycle, including budget preparation, budget monitoring and Statement of Accounts production.
Your new role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Accountant to develop the skills and knowledge to manage a wider team and to be part of a transformation. You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of all aspects of local authority accounting as you will be the technical and operational lead on all areas of finance.
Under the direction of the Director – Finance Revenues and benefits (DS151 Officer), you will transform and deliver a high performing business partnering function that provides high quality financial andmercial advice to the Corporate Management Team and budget holders. To manage the Statement of Accounts preparation and to co-ordinate the production of the annual General Fund, Housing Revenue Account and Capital Programme budgets in accordance with priorities laid out in the Council’s Corporate Plan and organisational strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
A professionally qualified accountant – or passed finalist - (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) with experience in a local authority setting, and a strong understanding of financial accounting, you will be able to evidence a significant role in the preparation of the annual budget, final accounts, the delivery of corporate budget processes.
