Job summary We are looking for a senior assistant technical officer to support our stores and procurement staff in the efficient running of these departments. Applicants must possess a good standard of education with good computer, communication and manual handling skills. They must be able to work well in a team, prioritise and organize their own work and work efficiently and accurately. An understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues is essential. Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the weekend, bank holiday and late night rota once adequately trained. Progression onto band 3 pay scale will be achieved with the completion of the relevant dispensary qualification. Candidates with a previous dispensing qualification may be eligible for advancement without additional qualifications being completed. Pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Main duties of the job Main Duties and Responsibilities Assist in organising, managing and maintaining the efficient running of ward distribution services at Weston. Assist in organising and managing the purchase of medicines. Help maintain the appropriate supply of medical gases. Assist with the training of Pharmacy staff to NVQ level 2 whilst in the stores department Dispensary To dispense routine prescriptions including discharge, inpatient and controlled drug requests, in accordance with standard operating procedures under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist. To provide advice to nurses and other staff on the supply of pharmaceutical products. Undertake telephone answering and receptionist duties within the dispensary. To assist and attempt to resolve problems associated with the dispensing process. Support the dispensary at busy times and times of staff shortages.
