Job summary Stock Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy dispensing practice on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. Main duties of the job Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme. Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor. Collect all due prescription charges. Manage ordering stock and stock control. Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries. Monitor patients exemption status. Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication. Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager. Person Specification Qualifications Essential At least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification; Experience Essential Previous dispensary and pharmacy experience. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge. Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting.
