Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Secondary Special Needs School, Bolton Start Date: Easter 2025 Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Monarch Education is excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a well-established secondary special needs school in Bolton. This full-time, long-term role is set to start at Easter 2025, and we're seeking someone who is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs to help them reach their full potential. About the Role: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in assisting students with a variety of special educational needs in a secondary school setting. You will work alongside class teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support, helping students to access the curriculum and reach their personal and academic goals. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders, moderate learning difficulties, and physical disabilities. Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that are differentiated and accessible for students with SEND. Support students' social and emotional development, using positive behavior strategies to maintain an inclusive and calm classroom environment. Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and assist in tracking student progress. Foster students' independence and self-esteem, acting as a positive role model. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students. Assist in resource preparation and maintain a safe, organized learning space. Candidate Specification: We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: An education-related qualification is desirable, but not essential. We will also consider applicants with extensive experience in the education sector or similar fields. Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role, preferably within a SEND setting. Strong understanding of special educational needs and how to support students with a variety of learning difficulties and disabilities. Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting students in overcoming challenges. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. A proactive and adaptable approach to support students' individual learning needs.
