We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to come and join our team on Lickey Ward. If you have an interest in caring for the older adult and want to work in a high functioning team to support patients and their families to restore/maintain independence following ill health, this could be the post for you.
If you would like to develop your skills and knowledge within frailty and rehabilitation and are committed to the delivery of high-quality patient centred care, please consider coming to join the team.
We are a twenty-six bedded specialist rehabilitation/frailty care ward. Patients are admitted under the care of our Advanced Clinical Practitioner team who are supported by a General Practitioner. The Unit is staffed 24/7 with Band 5 nurses who work 12.5-hour shifts, over a 7-day period including days and nights. Medical support is available out of hours and over a weekend.
Referrals to the Ward are made from other professionals including GPs, Accident and Emergency, Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultants and our neighbouring Acute Trusts. Admission would be considered for patients who are experiencing acute ill health and require additional treatments/symptom management, difficulties with their mobility and/or social setting.
If you would like to discuss informally if this is the right role for you get in touch with the recruiting manager, details can be found on the top right-hand side of the advert.
Main duties of the job
As a Staff Nurse you will be responsible for providing care and symptom control to older adults. We work closely as a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist rehabilitation whilst promoting independence. Our focus is promoting the comfort, safety and wellbeing of patients, enabling them to live as well as possible in a community setting. On Lickey ward we ensure the care we provide is patient focused and tailored to everyone's individual needs. This often involves the team advocating a patient's wishes and thinking outside the box to ensure safety can be maintained on discharge.
As a Staff Nurse you will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills in venepuncture, cannulation, IV therapy, management of syringe pumps and many more. Working on Lickey ward requires excellent communication skills and the ability to have open, honest conversations with patients and their relatives during difficult times. As a team we encourage ongoing learning and development through reflection and clinical supervision which we try and embed in our daily practice.
