Community Technician (Higher Trades) - Electrician
Are you an experienced Electrician looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the great city of Sheffield?
At Sheffield City Council, we’re currently seeking qualified Electricians to join our team as part of the Housing Repairs & Maintenance Service which will help us to continue providing an excellent service.
We pride ourselves on providing a responsive, efficient, and professional service, and if you would like to be a part of that, we want to hear from you.
If successful, we will provide relevant training and the opportunity to progress your career. All our electricians undergo continued personal development, and we encourage them to become qualified to C&G Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391).
As part of your role, you will be expected to carry out electrical installation condition reports and fill out the relevant certification.
You will also be expected to use handheld electronic devices to fill out weekly timesheets and sign on to and complete jobs “in real time.”
You may also be asked to work with and supervise one of our apprentices.
You must be able to drive and have a clean licence.
You’ll need to diagnose faults and carry out repairs to circuits. We’ll need you to be able to install ventilation fans and replace electric showers. Experience in renewable energy systems (mainly PV) would be highly beneficial.
When you work with us, you will receive ongoing training and quality checks to ensure your skills stay up-to-date, and if you need to renew certificates to remain compliant in your trade, we provide that too.
We are investing in our workforce and promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity, and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us, and we welcome your application.
Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria of this job are guaranteed an interview.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year, and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. However, if you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
