Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an accident and emergency department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals.
We are the main provider of acute hospital services to a population of around 210,000, living within Weymouth and Portland, West Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. We also provide renal services for patients throughout Dorset and South Somerset; a total population of 850,000.
Our 3,000 staff work in GP surgeries, schools, residential homes and peoples own homes as well as Dorset County Hospital and the community hospitals.
Dorset County Hospital has approximately 400 beds, seven main theatres and two day theatres, and has been designed with a major commitment to Public Arts in Hospital. Related services are grouped into three connected wings: North, South and East. Entry to the hospital is gained via nine main entrances.

Job Overview
We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional, professional and highly motivated Head of Management Accounts.
You will proactively lead the monthly production, presentation and reporting of the Trust's financial position to a strict timetable and be responsible for identifying and reporting drivers of the financial position including accurate monthly forecasting.
In your role as Head of Management Accounts, you will be responsible for the promotion and installation of proactive management accounting techniques and deliverables of the department.
You will also play a key lead role in the development of the Trust's business planning and operational plan for current and future financial strategy. This will involve working closely with other members of the senior finance team to produce a detailed Trust plan with effective supporting information to stand up to external scrutiny and challenge.
This role is a core member of the Senior Management Team and plays an integral part in providing senior leadership within the Trust. The post holder will also deputise for the Head of Financial Management as necessary.
To Succeed In The Role At DCH, You Will
* Be a qualified Accountant with substantial financial management experience in a medium to large and complex organisation.
* Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading and engaging with finance and other corporate functions to develop a mature and rounded service.
* Have excellent understanding of management accounting, budget setting, financial reporting, planning and forecasting as well as being adept at managing both your own and your team's priorities.
* Be a strong leader able to communicate well with your peers and team members and have resilience to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands from internal and external stakeholders and the wider health economy.

Education, Qualifications And Training
Essential criteria
* Professional qualification (CCAB) in accountancy, or Finalist with demonstrable relevant experience (CIMA, ACA, CIPFA, ACCA)
* Evidence of having kept technically up to date and actively engaging and promoting training opportunities for self and others
* Active participation in additional relevant specialist training courses and demonstrating shared/cascaded learning
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant, recent post qualification experience in a senior finance position, or demonstrable relevant experience in a similar role
* Significant experience of leading, managing and developing staff including driving a positive culture and learning environment
* In depth and applied knowledge of financial and accounting procedures across finance disciplines
* Experience of budgetary control, financial planning and forecasting in the NHS or an equivalent large and complex organization, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the business
