Position: Maintenance Engineer Location: Crewkerne, Somerset Working Days/Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6am - 6pm Salary: £43,340 per annum Contract Type: Temp to Perm or Permanent Start Date: Immediate Job Description: We are seeking skilled Maintenance Engineers to join the dynamic team at a busy production facility. The role involves ensuring smooth and efficient production operations by performing regular preventative maintenance and swiftly addressing any issues that arise across the site. Key Responsibilities: Conduct daily checks across the full production site and associated plant to identify and diagnose potential issues. Perform regular scheduled PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) servicing. Diagnose and resolve breakdowns across various machinery and plant equipment on production lines. Maintain processing equipment including fluid pumps, air actuators, separators, homogenisers, steam boilers, and heat exchangers (full training provided). Collaborate with the Engineering Supervisor and Manager on continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency, reduce wastage, and extend machine life. Work closely with the Planning, Production, QA, and Laboratory teams to ensure the smooth operation of the facility. Complete all necessary documentation to ensure compliance with Food Assurance standards. Assist with facilities maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects. Support project work, including the introduction of new plant and equipment. Desired Candidate Skills: Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated environment (e.g., BRC, Red Tractor) is ideal, though training will be provided in Food Safety and Quality Standards. Experience with dairy process lines is desirable, but experience with pumps, motors, and similar equipment will be considered. A keen interest in future technology and equipment. Experience in FMCG/Food environments is a plus, with an understanding of rapid response to minimize downtime. Flexibility to support the business during peak times.
